Media release: Queensland Police causing significant economic loss to legitimate Australian industry.

The Shooting Industry Foundation of Australia (SIFA) has raised the alarm over poor policy and administration by Queensland Police that is now having a significant negative effect on legitimate Queensland businesses.

Delays in the processing of routine permits by Queensland Police have become so significant that business owners in Queensland are now reporting substantial economic loss with concerns they may have to lay off staff.

Is what happens when nannys are in charge

Affected businesses should start a class action against QLD Police. As should affected businesses who depend on those delayed permits, and recreational shooters who pay a premium fee to obtain a permit provided with less than rock bottom service.

If your PTA is delayed more than a couple of weeks start lodging complaints with Weapons Licensing and CC, your local member, and the Police Minister in on it.

They are still getting paid (by the very people who are in financial hardship) so they don't care

When the majority of the country is disarmed they hold absolute power, just the way they want it

We should abolish ridiculous 'weapons' licensing altogether, as lawful access and use of firearms are universal human rights not a privileges granted to us by regulators or police, who need to be focusing resources on crime.

Just don’t supply firearms or ammo to the police.

Happening in WA too , making it harder n harder for everyone

It's important that governments and their departments use the correct language when referring to our industry, as well as ensuring the distinction is made between lawful firearms use and that of the criminal element with illicit and unregistered firearms.

Following representations to the CEO of the ACIC and AIC, Mr Michael Phelan, over the improper use of language used by the Commission, we are happy to announce that our concerns have been listened to.

keep up the good work.

Trouble is they still treat us all as criminals, the attitude hasn't changed from the day Sydney was a penal colony regardless that many more moved here willingly looking for a new life and they forget a lot of the squatters were ex convicts who took what they wanted

yup... don't insult their Education with your Aussie Strine

That request is, or should be an easy example for them to set impress releases to any media coverage of any story. Well done.

First step is to stop them being called weapons!

Now can we get media and police from always using the term weapon when referring to most firearms used for legally permitted activities?

Until shooters stop being criminals in waiting, then traders can stop being gun runners in waiting.

I have always, and will continue to, correct anyone who comes to the range and refers to our rifles as weapons - they are firearms used as sporting equipment. One of the biggest problems comes because we have to have a "Weapons Licence" and not a Firearms licence. Wouldn't it be great if they changed that.

Most government agencies are just tardy and sloppy. When AIC makes simple errors like this I suspect it's deliberate.
